With extremely warm temperatures gone until next year, you may not be too concerned about the current state of your car’s air conditioner. However, this is something that you will use, time and time again, once the weather warms back up. For this reason, it is imperative to keep your system in good working order.
Here are several steps to follow if you feel that your air conditioner is not performing as it should:
1. Turn your fan to high. If you are not getting any air, there is a good chance that your air conditioner blower fan needs to be replaced.
2. Is the radiator cooling fan engaging? When you turn on your AC, the radiator cooling fan should engage. If nothing happens, the cooling fan may need to be replaced or repaired.
3. Refrigerant leak. Your AC system may be losing refrigerant due to a leak. In this case, your system may work for a while after a recharge, but soon lose effectiveness.
Along with the above, there are other reasons why your car’s air conditioner can stop working. All you know is that you aren’t getting the air you need to stay comfortable.
Rather than fight the flow and worry about melting, it is best to contact FAR to discuss your situation. If nothing else, we can diagnose your problem and give you advice on which steps to take next. From there, it will not be long before your AC is repaired and you are once again relaxing as you cruise down the road.
