There is nothing more frustrating than driving down the road as you listen to a rattle. This is enough to drive you crazy on a long trip. Rather than turning the radio up to drown out the noise, you could pinpoint the problem and put an end to it once and for all.
If your car’s interior is rattling, it may be easier than you ever imagined to find a solution. Here is what you need to do:
Move-in on the cause. As you drive, have a passenger pinpoint where the rattle is coming from. If you are lucky, you may find it has nothing to do with your vehicle. For example, loose change in your glove box could be the cause of the noise.
Once you pinpoint the source, it is time to find a solution. Can you tighten a screw? Can you install sound deadening material? The solution you settle on is based largely on the cause.
Remove an interior panel. Unfortunately, there are times when a rattle cannot be fixed from the “outside.” Instead, you need to remove an interior panel to find out what is going on.
Note: if you don’t have the expertise to fix the problem, don’t hesitate to visit us. Not only can we tell you where the noise is coming from, but we can resolve the problem once and for all.
An interior rattle may not impact the performance of your vehicle, but it can go through your head like a nail. If you are having this type of problem, contact us for professional advice and to schedule an appointment.
