Fall Foliage Routes in Virginia

The temperature has dropped, the air is crisp and the wind is blowing. These are sure signs that Fall is here, bringing with it the colorful sights of foliage falling along Virginia’s highways and byways.

The Back of the Dragon

Total Drive Time: 1 hour
A zigzag trail cuts through a majestic mountain landscape as the Hungry Mother State Park comes alive during this time of year. Be sure to visit the quaint town of Tazewell while you’re passing through.

Route 39: The Allegheny Mountains

Total Drive Time: 1.5 hours
Expect a colorful course full of curves as drive through steep mountains and plunging gorges. Check out the lovely town of Warm Springs as well as Goshen Pass. Breathtaking!

Skyline Drive in Shenandoah National Park

Total Drive Time: 3 hours
Natural waterfalls abound on this scenic route of more than 105 miles. Twisting and winding roads also feature 75 overlooks and 500 miles of woodland hiking trails. Experience nature at its finest!
