Always excellent. I brought them in to check out an issue I was having with my brakes. FAR looked at the brakes, told me what was wrong, offered assistance, and even when I turned it down so I could go back to the shop that messed them up and have them fix it, FAR said that's cool and let me go free of charge! So awesome!!

I first took my car to Fairfax Auto Repair because I could not get a dealer to respond to my calls in a quasi-emergency situation: a dead battery (atypical, so not easily replaced) with an AAA charge that would last only until I arrived at a service center. Since then, I have used them exclusively. They are knowledgeable and responsive, and will work to get you into their schedule if the problem is urgent. They will investigate complicated problems until a solution is found. They explain to you what is going on and will not try to have you do repairs you do not need (although they will tell you that something will need to be done soon). My only reservation is that they are not cheap: this is no hidden bargain of amazing mechanics who are willing to work for peanuts. So, they are not for everyone. But, if you want honest service and believe that people should be compensated for their expertise, this will be a good place for you.

Have been looking for a good mechanic since moving to the Fairfax area. I picked Fairfax Auto based on other Yelp reviews. This place is awesome.Not more than 10 min. after putting a request for service in from their website, I received a call to finalize the date and time. Excellent and friendly staff!I knew what the problems were prior to taking my truck in, but only gave them generic descriptions of the problem. They called me the morning of to give me the diagnostics report. They were spot on. No unnecessary work and no gouging.They email you reports and updates prior to doing any of the work. I knew every step of the repair.I highly recommend Fairfax Auto Repair!

Their technician took time diagnosing the problem of my car and Sonia so patiently explained to me in details. Told me some issues that I already knew from another garage but very honestly told me that I didn't need to fix it right away and they'll monitor the issues in every future regular maintenance. Great business ethics. Great customer service. I will be their loyal customers on going forward.
