Had to take my car in for some serious work, and again was very pleased with the straightforward info I received. I ran the estimate by two out-of-state mechanics that I am friends with, and both said the prices seemed very fair. So I went ahead with it. Definitely still a loyal customer.

Honest and affordable. Estimate was 1/10 the cost of original estimate because they weren't trying to oversell me. Will absolutely come here for future work. Customer service was outstanding, staff was straight forward and friendly. No compalints about anything.

I am not sure how anybody can take the review below seriously- it's pretty obvious that person is a little cuckoo. Anyway, THIS review is about Fairfax Auto Repair and not a glimpse into somebody's miserable world. I have been going to Fairfax Auto Repair since shortly after they opened after a friend recommended them. I can tell you, after getting screwed over by dealerships and other shops ONE too many times I am so thankful to have a friendly, professional, knowledgable, honest, expeditious, cost-effective mechanic. They treated my 2001 Honda Accord (which I recently traded in for a new car) like a brand new Mercedes and considering how attached and proud I was of my "little engine that could", I really appreciated that. If it's available, they will give you a loaner car if you need it and if you live nearby, Rebecca (time and availability permitting of course) will drive with you to your house and drive your car back for you- an unbelievable personal touch. Can you imagine another shop doing that? I have also gone in there and thought I needed something done (I think last time it was an alignment I thought I needed) and they came back and said I didn't need it. I love that honesty! My husband took his truck there and he told them he needed new brakes because that's what he honestly thought. They came back and said he only needed front brakes. You don't have to worry about saying too much to them- if you don't need it, they'll tell you. Most recently, I called up the shop to ask them about the cost of repairing hybrids since we are in the market. Rebecca answered my question in 30 seconds yet we were on the phone for 20 minutes talking about used vs. new hybrids, cost of batteries, selling my Honda on Craigs List vs. trade-ins... she went the extra mile with me yet again. Trust the good reviews- ignore the bad. You'll be glad you did.

Today was my first visit - bought the oil change deal on Groupon. I came in simply to get an oil change and they got it done in less than one hour. Not only was the oil change done quickly, they gave me a complete report of things they noticed needed to be corrected and even instruction on how I might fix the minor things myself. Having bought the oil change on Groupon, a deal site, I was expecting to be upsold but I received ZERO pressure to commit to other additional cost services like you see at places like Jiffy Lube that charge you and arm and a leg for a convenient oil change and then nag you to let them do additonal services that you "need".

This is a bittersweet review, because it may be really selfish, but it's very hard to let the word out that we've found an amazing, down-to-earth, honest mechanic. But, we'd be doing them an injustice by not extolling their virtues and helping them grow even more.We were quoted a price of $1200 by other mechanics in town and told we needed all new brakes. This seemed ridiculous, but we were leaving town the next day for a road trip. Called around, and found Fairfax Auto Repair on Yelp.Rebecca was incredibly amazing, helpful, nice, kind, and honest. They got us in right away, took GREAT care of us, went out of their way to reassure us that the brakes were just fine, let us know a couple other minor issues on the horizon that didn't need to be worked on now but just to be aware of over the next year. Really? Not going to force us to get it done now? Who ARE these guys? They even apologized at the cost being as high as it was (though less than half the other guys' quote) only because no one made a generic part for our hub assembly and they had no choice but to go with a dealer part.Rebecca and her husband run the shop, and they are completely normal, educated, down to earth people. You will wonder why there aren't more shops like this, and you will never go anywhere else!

From the first time I went to Fairfax Auto Repair with my 15 year old clunker, I was treated just as kindly as the luxury car drivers. They gave me an oil change, and then performed a thorough diagnostic to let me know what repairs were needed. They even prioritized the repairs so I knew which would be needed soonest, since I couldn't afford to fix everything at once. They have been upfront, honest, friendly, and always able to fit me in for an appointment if something unexpectedly pops up. I finally got a new car this week, but I will be taking it here anytime I need routine maintenance. They are the BEST!

Rebecca and Luis are wonderful to work with and the most honest in the business. Our quote to fix my wifes 2000 Inifiniti G20 car was $2900 from the dealer. That was for power steering hoses, "frozen" rear brake calipers, and 2 new CV boots. I was furious as I knew that they were totally trying to rip my wife off. Rebecca and Luis took a look at the estimate, looked over the car, and fixed it the right way. The total repair bill came to less than $750 and it was fixed same day. That included 1 new power steering hose (not two like the dealer said we needed) and 2 new CV boots. I will only take my cars to Rebecca and Luis at Fairfax Auto repair from now on!!

I have a son in college at GMU, driving a 1995 Mazda 626 (162k mileage) that recently required repair again. Had AAA tow to Fairfax Auto to confirm what repairs were needed (prior to Fairfax Auto Repair vehicle was analyzed at Merchants for $1200.00 estimate to repair). Luis did exactly what he said he would do (being I was conducting all my requests via phone-long distance) was very attentive to my concerns and assured me what was needed and the cost. I realized this was a less expensive repair but unfortunately could not afford to repair this vehicle at this time. I do know that the service I received was above and beyond what I have dealt with in Fairfax on prior occassions and I know I have found the "right" repair shop. It is refreshing to know there are still people who want to do the best job they can. I would like to express my sincere gratitude for their time, patience and exceptional service.

Found this shop on Google, service was great. Prompt, professional, and helped make sure my work was covered by the extended warranty I had purchased. I would recommend them as honest and fair as well.

I took my '04 Audi S4 in for a window regulator repair and during Luis' routine vehicle inspection he found my front suspension needed new links so Luis gave me a call and I had him fix that also. They kept me updated every step of the way and when it was time to pick up the car, I rode the metro to Vienna and since I had already paid for the service over the phone, Rebecca was at the metro to drop off my car and Luis was following to pick her up. Made me feel a bit like a movie star. I'll definitely will be using them the next time I need my vehicle service.- John
